Lt Col (Retd) Shaukat Iqbal Mirza S/o Muhammad Walayat Mirza

Lt Col (Retd) Shaukat Iqbal Mirza belongs to a politically established family of District Jhelum. He is grandson of Major Mirza Hussain Baig, a prominent figure of the area. His father Muhammad Walayat Mirza, a very well known public figure in the area, was CHAIRMAN UNION COUNCIL and MEMBER DISTRICT COUNCIL JHELUM continuously from 1978 to 1991.

In this period all basic amenities and development in the area was because of his efforts which include.

  • Concept of drains and streets in our area was implemented during his tenure.
  • Roads were developed in the area.
  • Hospital (First Govt hospital was constructed during his tenure)
  • Schools; Girls High School and Boys College were established in the area during this period.
  • Telephone Exchange.
  • Post office.
  • The area was developed from a backward area to a town with all basic amenities.
